Its always a great event to head to and get to taste some great wines, coffee, meats, relishes, cheses etc etc. There are always thousand of people down there and it makes for a great day or two

Just thought i would gauge the interest of the toyspeed comunity and see who has some advanced palates ;)

Took my folks last year and really enjoyed it.
Might be going this year again, not sure yet. Some really good food, didn't get to see much of the competitions unfortunately.

-1 for the guy selling cheese in a can though... sick

What's the general deal?

Is it cost for admission + cost per food item purchased?

Information here:

http://www.foodshow.co.nz/index.cfm/visit/Wellington

Last year you paid your entry fee ($18 or $20 on the door), and tasting etc. covered. I think for wine tasting you might have to buy a wine glass as well at X price (i think it was aout $5). All around the concourse of the stadium various stalls are setup. Most of them offer tasting of products. Food & Wine. Were some beers then when I went as well. then you can also buy food from them directly if you like it (usually for a decent price).

During the day various stalls have scheduled shows on doing things. Also there is the main demonstration area where they have cooking competitions etc.

I'd hoped to go to one of the celebrity cooking demonstrations but ended up running out of time. They were doing some mexican dishes.

Sounds not bad.

I [heart] food but have no interest at all in wine. But if there's lots of foodie stuff to try, I could well be keen for a mish down there.

Im all over this like Revhead and livestock ;)

Get in early if you can, it gets real hectic and once the lushes have a skinful of plonk...there's a rowdy crowd.

Usually some smallgood stands which are worth fighting your way up to... The freebies are unfortunately getting less and less, first year was awesome.

Watch where you park too. I got a ticket last year for exceeding the 2 hour maximum, however the 2 hours had started(according to the ticket)one minute after I had got money from an ATM in Karori.

Fortunately ANZ got me the printout from the ATM and a brief letter later, ticket waived ;)

Two of my favourite things, food & wine, so I'll likely pop in for a look.

Like a lot of these shows though, there's not a lot new year to year and once you've done it ... you've done it.
