price check: 86 AW11 project car

Postby cogent » Fri Jun 18, 2010 10:54 am

This is pretty hard for me to write up, but I think I have to accept that between the RX7, the MX5 clubsport car and the MR2 - I have too many projects and cars to maintain. Having recently moved out of a place with a 2 car garage into a place with only out-side parking, being able to work on the cars is also a struggle.

So, I'm considering parting out, or selling as a whole my AW11 project. This was my first car and is extremely sentimental to me as I have always seen it as "the car I will never sell and will always be an ongoing project"

Details:
86 AW11 - nz new, 300,000kms on chassis
sunroof model
red
5 speed
windy windows
no a/c
pre-facelift

GOOD PARTS:
engine -
AE101 Smallport 4AGZE - bolted in, S/C setup removed
Smallport 4AGE inlet manifold
intake side alternator, starter motor
2.5" exhaust, custom collector, silvertop headers
exedy clutch with fair bit of meat left (from what I recall it is an exedy, best to assume OEM-spec)
Subaru legacy W2A IC radiator and hose fitted
Legacy W2A waterpump

BODY:
TRD front shocks, less than 10kms
Koni Yellow rear shocks, less than 10kms
Factory springs
prothane bushings all around
Mongoose M60G alarm
Fused welding cable for front mounted battery

INTERIOR:
Sportline steering wheel w/momo bosskit
Sound deadening removed
Jamex fixed back bucket seats mounted to factory rails, good fit in the car and comfortable even for larger people
custom skull-print shift boot

EXTERIOR:
black bonnet, engine lid, engine flanks, boot lid, spoiler
AW11 triangle wheels

SPARES/INCLUDED PARTS:
ST205 Intercooler modified for AW11 4AGTE setup
second legacy w2a waterpump
4age head exhaust flange, 2 x 50mm wastegate flanges, VF10 dump pipe flange
red bonnet

BAD STUFF:
front guards need paint, in fact the car will need a paint job of some sorts
needs new front lip and lower valance
no ecu or loom for engine (have a link for it which I would keep for my mx5)
no turbo (again would keep for the mx5)
windscreen cracked
no wof, reg on hold
needs new brake pads/rotors
turbo setup needs to be completed
probably needs at least another $2k spent on it, depending on how much you can DIY

So thats a pretty general list of it. I'm expecting I could get maybe $2k in parts or about $1000 as a whole. Thoughts?

Don't do it man!!!!!! :o

Simple as that, you know you WILL regret it....
Don't become one of the masses that say "I wish I didn't sell that...."

But if you do sell it.... A price is hard to set seeing as it's in bits....
If you got a $1000 I'd say you were lucky.

Pretty much I want to find a lockup and store it there on jackstands, sell the engine and turbo the mx5 with the link. Then slowly do the brakes/suspension/interior/paint and think about an engine package later on.
