car selling issues - need your opinion

i had an issue like this but 2yrs after the point of sale
sold ( traded ) my gtz in on the chaser, and me being me i keep every little recipt/inv that i spend on a car and this went with the gtz

now
the gtz got sold via a car sales yard to a young dude who then on sold it to another young chap...........who blew it up.........bent the conrod and shaterd no1 pistion to tiny little bits

said young dude apeared at my work ( two yrs later ) and was threatning to take me to small claims un less i paid up for the engine rebulid

i laughed at his face told him where the door was and told him to take me to small claims

nothing every happend about it,

love it tho how pple seam to take other pple as idiots and give a lame attempt at screwing pple

sigh.............was such a sweet gtz too

Pretty much their problem now...

Mate sold his WRX, similar issue, how ever when they took delivery of it they launched it, and could be heard all the way up the neighborhood giving it a hiding. 10 mins later.. Txt saying it blew up.

It is not as simple as many posters are trying to say it is... The buyer could possibly have remedies and redress available through the Sale of Goods Act 1908 and/or the Contractual Reemedies Act, but that would come down to what was said during the sale and any implications made about the quality/condition of the vehicle etc. It would course be up to the buyer to prove any breach/misrepresentation, which could be difficult.

Because of this I would be very careful if you offer money as it could be seen as an admission of some responsibility/knowledge of/for the problem if they buyer wanted to be difficult and try and take it further.

If you do want to offer some money to the buyer (nice thing IMHO) I would make sure to put it in writing to the buyer that you had no knowledge of any issue, accept no responsibility for the situation/engine failure but are offering this money as a gesture of goodwill. Or something like that.
