So sad, my Ae86 race car was collected yesterday after selling it last week. Off to rotorua to live, and even already entered into its..... arg ...... first gravel event....ah!!!!

And the funny thing is, the guy the purchased it is heavily involved in the rebuild of a HQ monaro that hit a bank backwards in targa last year.
Immm, would that be the same monaro that rear ended my car in targa 3 years ago, well yes! small world.

Bye bye Ae86, we had some great times, but life moves on

Will make do with my stop gap Integra race car (ex mike eady), until i build up a M3 E36.

Yes, the internet is full of muppets.

All i can say is that after 4 years of no incidents at all in targa or otherwise, including any spins what so ever, i got too competitive. Running 27th out of 140 cars outright in targa in a 98wkw levin was simply pushing too hard. Targa is an endurance event after all. Lesson learned.

On the bright side, it got repaired better than ever.
Lets not talk about that impact on my bank account...

Anyone who thinks that this was a lot of money , obviously has not built themselves a rally/race car before . The guy has probably saved himself $10k + from building one .
Doesn't it make you cringe after all that work to know that it's going to get gravel rashed ? I suppose it helps keep the value of the other mint one's alive that stay on tarmac .

It does make me cringe. However... the new owner is a ex smash repair owner and ensures me he is as ainal about appearance as i have been (air brushing stone chips after every major outing). So fingers cross he keeps it lookin good, and also keeps it out of ther trees!

I do think its expensive, but at the end of the day its worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

So 10 points to you, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

If he is the type of guy that can do 99% of the work himself. If he was to be paying someone by the hour to do most of it, he has saved himself $20K or more
