I can't believe no one has suggested a maserati biturbo yet. I mean goddamn, look at this handsome fellow:

how the $&#$% did that guy get a biturbo not only to the track, but also actually onto the track

My GF's uncle has two... Awesome, awesome cars.

I understand they're difficult to work on though.

Definately, every school boy wants to talk to you, every rota hoe wants a "ride" and every V8 driver races you at the lights.

Me and a mate test drove a S7 yesterday to see if he liked it compared to his series 1, had a V8 commy drag us off at the lights and some chick on the side of the road yelled something at us. We were in the car for less than 15 minutes.


Maybe you should just get a 4A-GE?

jesus christ monkey balls!!!! how many hours did they spend on it to get that sort of bill? the turbos arent that hard to pull off!!!

Up until recently i had been using my series 2 as a daily, when i was living 5 mins from work, but now that im a good half hour drive theres no way that would happen. Im lucky to get 300km to a tank (damn thirst microtechs), plus as cogent said, the running maintenance repairs start getting expensive....especially when your cars is as old as you are...

Buying a brand new work weapon in 2012 so it may have to take precedence over weekend funtimes.

compression test,
labor for diagnosing the problem and repairing,
all new gaskets throughout the turbo/exhaust/intake setup,
new studs, bolts, washers etc throughout the turbo/manifold/block interface,
got them to do a new air filter, oil filter, oil change since it was at a workshop anyway

I didn't mind paying that much, the workshop was highly recommended for working on FD RX7s, the staff were all very professional and friendly and kept me informed at all times.

They are good cars.....closer to 1700 kg though. It is hard to find a decent one now although there are a few single turbo 96+ models around....Im still kicking myself for not flying down to Christchurch to buy a mint silver 97 JZZ30 5-speed. It went for like 7 grand!

I enjoyed the time I had with mine and did my first track day in it. They are a bit of a lead tipped arrow, first mods I would do would be more rubber and bigger brakes.
