Catering hire...

Postby FST4RD » Tue Jul 27, 2010 10:26 am

So i remembered I have this huge cows skull horns and all sitting in the garage, i also just bought a huge fish tank. Talking to the chaps at Animates they said it would be fine as an orniment, just boil it a few times to make sure it's clean before sticking it in the tank.
Only thing is this skull is big and I don't have anything big enough to boil it in.
Someone told me that there are places that hire catering equipment?
To give ou an idea this skull is around 30cm wide and 50cm long so I need a fairly big pot.
Anyone?

There are places that do to bones what tanners do to skins.
Maybe talk to a tanner to see if they have contacts for this?

Iremember on dirty jobs that there were some beetles that ate flesh from skeletons to clean for display :)

Yeah it's all clean... there's a bit of dirt here and there, just want to make sure that there's nothing bad like bacteria in it that might kill the fish...

could you fill tank with hot water, place skull in it and then add bleach, soak for a few hours, empty tank

repeat

then fill with just water, place skull in it, empty tank

then place tank and skull in the sun so any reminants of bleach is gone

then should be safe for fish, put some cheap fish such as neons or guppys to test it out

awesome idea, show some pics when done

Cut the bottom off a 44gal drum and fill it with water.

Add one bbq and a wee while on high flame and should be sorted
