Buy an Evo 9, flash the ecu with an FQ360 map, do the fuel pump, exhaust and filter. Done, nice 4 door good for weekends with plenty of go. Similar can be done with An E 7 OR 8.

Forget a poxy STI

Sorry to bring this back up and for something not directly related! Back to the issues of STIs. WRXs in general if we are talking V1-6 sort of thing, does anyone know how different the JDM spec ones are from the STIs and from the WRXs?

about 205kw vs 160kw STI vs WRX, STI has stronger bits so they go bang less often

Pretty sure most of the WRX / STIs we get are JDM imports...

Anyone know if we get a NZDM model of these?

Don't think there's any difference in NZ/JDM WRX/STi.

Pretty sure Mr Emperor is correct, apart from the newest ones of which the NZnew ones are a poxy 2500cc engine vs the JDM 2000cc goodness

Who knows what they get in Japan, when I got mine 5 years ago I was told so many different things, apparently about v4 onwards were almost identical power.

I had a standard v2 WRX (non STi before you say only STi were versions...) running 12psi but making 154kw at the wheels, just an exhaust done as far as I know. Still had the 189km speed cut (found that out on the track). That dyno test was done at torque performance on one of their dyno days, they reckon that was around 200kw at the flywheel. So a bit more than the 155kw the equivalent NZ model was quoted as.

I asked around at Clubsub and the guys on there basically said they have no idea, sometimes you get lucky. I drove a few as well before importing my one and some were pants and others reasonably fast.

Just what I found anyway

From what I have found

the version 1-3 wrx's had about 160-170kw and the sti closer to 205

BUT once you get to version 4-6 the wrx's apparently had closer to the full 206kw just like the sti's

They blow up with enough regularity that its entirely likely at some stage in its life its had a later model /STi motor put it.
