ae92 fxgt 4agte questions

Postby davev3 » Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:28 am

Hey guys,
Im new here, had an ae92 fxgt since the start of this year but am planning on putting a 4agte in it. I was thinking of buying a 4agze and rebuilding it then probably putting a t3 or t3/t4 turbo on it. I've seen a few other people on here have done similar things. Are there any major issues that arise when doing this and does anyone have any advice on undertaking this project?
Also I thinking of getting a lsd from a levin/trueno and putting it in aswell. I assume this is a straight swap?
Cheers

yeah mate, buy one that's already had the work done, mine owes me a house deposit.

do a search also.

t3/t4 as it chinese? most likely will be a fail.

What is your budget?

what power you aiming to make,

how much spare cash after your budget do you have?

I have a T28 turbo and the driveability of one is excellent, builds boost very smooth.
Cant seem to get more than 160kw out of the turbo though...

Also i spent $7000AUD on my turbo conversion.
Most expensive was the tuning....
Just to give you an idea of costs.
Because I am mechanically illiterate, a workshop did all the work.
Could probably halve the price if you did it yourself.

A brand new Lsd will set you back over $1k.
Trying to find a 2nd hand Diff only will be damn hard.
Then the cost of installing it.

E58 ae101 gtz box with LSD is prob the cheapest option.

As for the conversion, there is so much info on the net, do a search.

Cheapest way - 4agze AFM engine with ECU, add the turbo, turn the timing back to 5 deg initial, add an extra injector with a Link Injector controller. 18psi of boost. This way avoids having a tunable ecu and the cost of tuning it.
Only thing is off boost power is not good as you cant turn the timing up.

I did this setup on my first car, didnt cost me much at all but I did the work my self. Managed a 12.9@180 pass on semi slicks

Mate with a CADET has done what Bazda suggested.
It works fairly good.
But it stumbles and hesitates a lot when your off power.
