chrome ftw! is soo much easier and quicker to use than firefox which is the next best IMO.

when you have to go back to using internet explorer on computers at uni it feels like it is in the stone ages.

I used to use chrome, but now use Firefox, both at home and work.

For what I do, I cant see the advantages for either, although for online training that I do for work I NEED to use I.E as it doesn't load in chrome or Firefox.

Not sure what all the haters hate about IE. Can understand it before IE had tabs, but that was ages ago.

I use IE cos it works on everything that I want to use. on the odd occasion that I have tried other browsers I haven't found that everything works as it should.

Security, standard compliance, political and performance are the reasons for hate.

Just ask any webdeveloper what they think about IE.

I switched to Firefox years ago after my laptop locked up with a virus.
Since then I have not had a single virus. Just some spyware.

Going to give chrome a go as everyone seems to like it.... I thought it was just some google thing so never bothered with it

Used to use Firefox and recently switched to Crome. Found that it was actually a lot faster, which surprised me, although I do often have a lot of tabs open. Like more than 10.
At first, I thought it was weird how it starts a new process for every tab, but this helps isolate any problems which cause lockup, which would happen every now and again in FF. Although thats probably due to the number of tabs that I have open. I'm yet to have a lockup in Crome though.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

IE is as secure and standards compliant as any other browser, where it get the bad rep is that more people target it and there are more additional features that people chose to use rather than wait for a standardised implementation of them.

Just ask any webdeveloper what they think about IE.

Depends on what you mean by web developer, if they're just a web page developer then they might prefer firefox, however if they're a web application developer the IE is easier to work with, regardless of that it's not the browser that is the problem, the the differnet implementaions of Javascript that causes the most issues.

I was talking about about CSS bugs where every single browser would display standard complaint code fine while IE would screw it up. Every day at work I hear swearing and ranting from my manager (he is the lead developer where I work) about IE not displaying stuff properly or consistently.

Also I really hate morons who design web apps that only work with IE, and worse put user agent detection code so it displays useless message that you need IE6 or greater to access that page (which easily bypassed with useragent switcher and some greasemonkeys scripts in some cases to make site work).

For example good old Cisco (was Linksys) SRW2048 webenabled switch has web interface to manage (and very buggy telnet interface) that on older models works fine with Firefox while on newer models (where Cisco had a go at it) only works with IE, if trying to access it with Firefox the newer models will be put into endless reboot cycle.

The reason why it is happening because people code pages such they use IE non-standard features to make things work because they are too lazy and/or their management is stupid.

The whole point of webapp is being portable. Needing IE is not portable.
