gt4blowing excessive smoke on idle

just got my gt4 back after dropiing another engine in it and on idle when its hot, it pours smoke out theback. what could cause this?

What colour smoke?

Did the old motor blow a turbo?

yeah but this turbo is new, ct26 with t04e wheel and it seems to be doing the same thing as the last one now, was sweet for a while and it hasnt been used much. could it be the seals?

Nah, it'll be residual oil in the exhaust from the last turbo. It'll clear up after a bit.

i've had a new exhaust since i changed the turbo, so maybe if i try cleaning out the down pipe since that was on there with the old turbo? need to get rid of it since i got fine for it today :(

um only a couple of weeks. but it didnt do it at first but only does it when its hot

only does it on idle when its hot a few seconds after stopping, rings would be doing it all the time and be worse when cold...

if it's a significant amount of smoke then it's most likely seals in the turbo I would think. When you say the turbo is "new", did you have it rebuilt or buy it second hand? If you don't mind pulling the turbo off you can put some oil into the centre section and leave it for a while to see if it comes out the exhaust side

Sounds like turbo, when I blew mine it started off just like that.

coming to a stop at the lights, will have a little puff.

Then it's the beeping from cars behind me

yeah its huge amounts of smoke, burnt off 4 litres of oil since saturday... if i turn the car off and leave it for a bit then turn it back on it doesnt smokeat all but as soon as i start driving its smoking. yeah the turbo was brand new but i broke a compressor wheel so could of done the seals then? gah its a mission getting the turbo off but it looks like i have to, really wasnt keen since i want to sell it...

Do a compression test/leakdown test first and rule out the engine before going to the hassle of taking the turbo off.

what willthat tell me? if its rings they will be oiled up and if its the turbo then they will be oiled up too

if it's all the plugs then its proabably the turbo, but if its less than 4 plugs its probably the rings? I dunno
how do I turn this on ?

well after leaving the car on the driveway fora week i found out that there is a rather large oil leak from the sump... trying to find the time to get a compression test done though
