Learn how to tune

Postby STM » Wed Oct 06, 2010 12:16 pm

Do you want to learn how to tune engines like a pro?
The world of performance engine tuning can be confusing and daunting. We find many keen novice tuners or performance enthusiasts who would love to pursue a career in engine tuning, but don’t know where to start. If this sounds like you then read on!

STM’s EFI Tuning Stage 1 course runs for 1 day and focuses on engine tuning theory backed up with a practical dyno demonstration of the concepts taught. The course begins with the basic operation of the 4-stroke engine, and then moves onto the fundamental components of a modern electronic fuel injection system. Each input and output in the EFI system will be discussed with an emphasis on a friendly atmosphere which encourages discussion and interaction between you and the tutor.

Damn I wish they were in Auckland. This would be awesome. And I may have put serious thought into the apprentice position they advertised.
Tho once they see what I've done to Emz fuel system they'll probably get a court order banning me from touching cars ever again

Ive tuned my own car, its easy tuning for power.
The hard bits are the drive-ability settings.
Cold starts, hot starts, sudden wide open throttle, sudden half throttle, ignition trims for fuel and air and some other things.
Im still yet to perfect the throttle situations.

Oh I wouldn't say it was that rough, just a little unorthidox.

But yeah it's a great price for those that wish to know more. I'd gladly pay twofiddy to pick their brains for a day.

your own fault for wanting to keep all that heavy stereo gear. but I never said unorthidox was a bad thing, hell I could have just pioneered the way fuel systems will be done in the future ( probably not )

Yup, Az has asked us to do it all again and the feedback we had last year was all very positive. We may switch up the talk a little for this year though and discuss some different topics. With any luck we will be able to do this talk at the South Island Champs too.
