Doh! Anyone good at replacing window glass?
My partners car got broken into last night. Its a 1991 Toyota Corona and they smashed the rear quarter window. The surround is still good so basically it is just the glass that needs replacing. I can probably go to pickapart and grab one, but as we are flatting at the moment I have next to no tools. Is there anyone in wellington that is good at doing these and could possibly lend a hand?
just a hint... I had to replace on an old corolla - the windows can be quite tightly fitted and a pita to fit once you've mongrelled it from pick a fart - use soapy water to help lube it in..... takes two secs instead of wrestling for ages!
yeah, pretty sure they are just a bunch of screws... been a while since I've done on though..

replaced mine on my '93 camry a while back, the guy at the wreckers told me to pull the main window and doorcard off as it will make it way easier - and he was right
once I'd pulled all that off the centre piece separating the two windows was just held on by a couple of bolts. old window came out with the rubber intact, and slotted the new one back in. replacement window still had the black glue stuff on it so just had to bolt everything back in.

Hey i've had a look and it wasnt screwed in I dont think. Just hs the black rubber seal around it. Is it possible to rangi it in without taking stuff apart? Thanks for the offer for help, if I need it I will PM you. Had enough for today. Bastard, all they took was my house keys out of the car, but my gymbag was in there with my address on it so had to get the locks changed.

had a look at it, well firstly smith and smith wanted $324 to replace (yeah right) smallest bit of glass! Going to Pik a Part on saturday to grab one, they have a couple of these up there. Just need the quarterglass and the rubber surround, and perhaps something to seal the glass and the rubber.
Check out ToyoDIY and found some diagrams that were useful. I think from what I see I should be able to put the main window all the way down and undo a few bolts on the seperating bit between the two windows just so I can move it a little bit and it should be a piece of piss.
So $20 compared to $324 at Smith and Smith? Tell you which one I would choose...
