replacing rear quarter glass

Postby .:O4AGTZ:. » Mon Oct 18, 2010 11:16 am

Well some of you may have seen my thread in the Wellington section about my partners car being broken into. They broke the little quarter piece of glass behind the drivers side rear door. From what I can see it doesnt screw in in anyway it just sits in a rubber surround. Car is a 91 Corona. Shape ST170?

Anyway this car is really only to get from A to B, and is only a runaround. I rung Smith and Smith and they wanted $324 to replace this tiny bit of glass. I can head up to pickapart and grab one to do myself, cant be that bad afterall, but is there any tips or anything for getting one of these in? Is it normally best to take the door card off and see if there is a way to push it in rather than trying to just fit it in the hole somehow?

Cheers

Don't know the car/model, it may be held in with clips or in a rubber gasket or glued in. The trim is held on with clips or glue.
It is unlikely that anything is done from the inside.
If this is your first time doing something like this, expect it to not go well until you're working on #3, if you're good & lucky #2 will be OK.
You may be able to rip one up at the junk yard for practice.
Good luck.
