Removeable rollcage members

Postby CelicaGT8 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 7:17 pm

Ok people, i really need to finish my cage, just have to do the removeable members...

But how? Iv looked at appendix 2, but their diograms suck for what i want to do... some pics below

Image

If you look hard you can see some red marks indicating the part i want removeable, but whats the best way to do this that keeps it tidy, its to let people into the back, just take it out when not on the track, but the easyest way to do so that i can see requires alot of space..., and i dont want that much sticking out from each end.

also, how to do the X removeable in the back from the points showen in red....

Buy you all a bourbon when i goes

i was of the impression, once the cage goes forward of the B pillar, fixed seats MUST be used, 4/5/6 point restraints MUST be used, therefore negating the rear passenger space??

not a licensed scrutineer anymore, so maybe it has changed (although i doubt it)

Fangsport is right. Sorry, if you've got those bars in there, your back seat is history and you can't use it ever, for any people.

Are removable bars even allowed?

regardless... as said, caging a car is a one way ticket (2 seater max, and annoying to get in and out of)

Haha!

It's legal to do - ring the technical office at MSNZ and ask what they expect from the joins.

I wouldn't be too keen on having any removable members in the rear section, but it depends how much racing you're going to do in it?

Personally I wouldn't want to have passengers in the back seat of a car if it has a full roll cage. Just think about all the bars they could hit if you have an accident. Its just not worth it in my opinion and is illegal.

A suggestion:

It will be cheaper, convenient and safer to buy a second car that will be your daily.
