Repairing back of dash console??

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Tue Oct 19, 2010 7:53 pm

Seems like I got a bit rough when putting my dash back together on the weekend... indicator bulbs now switch on constantly when I turn the headlights on and one of the "wiring traces" or whatever they're called on the rear of the console has broken.

It has broken before and been soldered so might have a go at doing that, but is this ideal? Are there any other easier / better options?

Cheers
-Matt

unless you can find a replacement, you'll have to fix the trace.
- cut a piece of wire slightly to size
- strip the wire leaving insulation in the middle, tin up both ends
- clean off some of the plastic covering the copper trace with the edge of a craft knife
- solder the tinned wire to the copper.
- cover with a dab of hot glue to re-insulate

Be careful with the heat from the iron as the trace can burn up very easily.
