st185 Front center engine mount

Postby GT4-Addict » Wed Oct 20, 2010 6:05 pm

My front center engine mount is FARRRRKKKEEEDDDD, put politley. I tried to track one down through autolign and BnT, but there isnt one avaliable in the country through them, I was wondering if the engine mounts of any old st18x celica will do the trick?

Any info would be really great!

not sure who BnT get their mounts through but i would say your best bet would be to try stocks. partsmaster also carries stocks' range.

surely you should be able to find something alot of them are interchagable.

Im trying not to go TGP, its already 117 for an aftermarket mount, and i think TGP will just be more expensive.

Ahhhhh the joys of an apprentices wage!

I dont think we have Partmaster/Stocks down here unfortunatly.

I also plan on going round some of the wreckers in my lunch break tomorrow, I was hoping to have it in by labour weekend but i dont think it will be a happening thing!

Um, have you actually tried? I might be used to australia pricing now, but im pretty sure engine mounts were line priced? and im sure they are a hell of a lot cheaper than $117....

Too often people just ASSUME genuine will be more expensive, and quite often they arent!!!

Still might be worth trying 1I1 (Mark) from toyota. Details are in the sponsors section just flick him an email. I had to replace a AE111 front engine mount not long ago was only ~$80.

Ill give mark a PM then, maybe he can sort me out with a genuine one, and ill track down a second hand one tomorrow for the mean time. Id still like to know if any other st18x or any other vehicle for that matter will work if anyone knows?

Im pretty sure the other st18x models are the same. Dont see why they would use a different mount on the same car

Well the others have a different gearbox, so it's possible the mounts could be different, but I suspect the rubber part will be the same with a different bracket going from there to the gearbox

Image

part numbers:
st185 mount = 12361-74150
st182/3 mount = 12361-74130

there are no matching entries in the EPC for the st185 mount, but the bracket that holes the mount is generic for st18x

of note, I have change my st185 side mounts to st182 gen2 mounts as they had more urethane in them.

Didn't really look at the front or rear mounts as I'm changing to polyurethane inserts.

Mount from Pick a Part is around $12. Will take a bit to get it off, but you have to drop the lower cross member by removing the grommets to access the bolts that attach the mount and the bolts that attach the x-member to the chassis. Note, some pipes are mounted to the cross member, so watch what you cut, espec AC piping.

Also, old mount will be worn, so not sure how much life you will get out of it. I got my poly inserts from http://www.speed-source.net/ Shiipping was around 10 days from the states.

Hope this helps

Hmmm, it may be possible to use st18x mounts then i gather? my mount has completley collapsed, so even if i fire one in temporarily and it 'Does the Job" for the mean time, itd be acceptable to me

why not call some local wreckers and try it? unless wreckers are changing a bit for one.

Mount Shop would have them, don't know if they have a shop in Dunedin, but there's one in ChCh, but they are by far the cheapest on engine mount distributors.

That's if XS1V doesn't come sell you one.
