Burnt lil wonder

I recently had my soundstream lw4.500 cook itself
Wasn't even cranking the system either
I had only just turned it on and changed CDs
When the cd started playing all I heard was bass
(the 4 channel runs the a set of alpine spr17s up front and I have a separate amp for the sub)
I checked my volumes and fader settings but still nothing
Then I smelled the burning and saw smoke coming from the amp
I spoke to abtec on Sunday and they said these amps were doing this a lot recently and that soundstream were replacing them with their stealth series amps under warranty (mines just out of warranty by a couple of months but here's hoping they have some compassion

Anyone have any info or experience with this

i would contact your retailer who you got the amp from and talk to them about replacement. There may be many reasons why the amp will blow the magic smoke, but best to talk to Soundstream retailer or soundstream disributors.

Yeah the amp is already in Australia thanks to rapid radio getting inspected
I'm hoping like crazy that it's either a cheap fix or they replace it for me

well if rapid are taking care of it and it's still under warrenty period then it should be promptly replaced or fixed. if it's out of warrenty, you can invoke the consumers gaurentee act and fight it out. otherwise, hopefully rapid will do the good thing and fix or replace.

neutral on service. They couldn't fix one of my big amps, so had to wait for my amp guy for 2.5 months so he could come back and fix it. At least they didn't charge me an arm/leg on whatifs
