Looking to borrow car trailer for weekend

Postby TazzieDevil » Tue Nov 02, 2010 12:07 pm

Hey guys, I'm heading up to Akl on the weekend of the 20/21st and the 27/28th. I'm also considering getting a car from up that way. Rather than worry about transporting cost etc, I was hoping I could borrow a car trailer for either weekend, so that I can travel up with it empty and bring it back full, as I doubt there are hire places that do 1 way trailer trips.

Unless someone can recommend a cheap deliver service.

Happy to donate a small amount, or some beers, bottle of bourbon etc.

Cheers

Hey Tazzy,

you may find most of us with car trailers hold onto em like a baby, aka will only lend out the trailer if were towing it :? , and thus probably unlikely to whisk away with you for the weekend  sorry dude

From memory the el-huge-o trailer from hirepool is like 120-150 a day

If you can't source a trailer, have a look to see how much it costs to send the car down on the train?

Train was a crazy price many years ago when I had the KE moved from Auckland to Taranaki.

Best price I got was through Automovements as a roll on roll off i.e. car wasnt running at the time.

Off the top of my head it was the best part of $350 or something like that

Thanks Neo, I thought that might be the case.

I've looked at hiring a trailer, but at $90 for a day, thats $270 for the weekend, If I take it up as I'm going already, or $90 (if i'm lucky) to go up and back in 1 day, but two tanks of gas (at least) at $160 is barely more worthwhile.

Thanks for the responses.
