yeah i have been to see everyone i know who has built cages in the past and they are all fully booked up. not sure about ashurst engineering. was going to ring them tomorrow.

i've heard mixed things about a guy in levin...not sure if it is ken douglas though. has there got anyone in wellys that doesn't charge absorbedent prices?

I'm pretty sure Alistair is still doing cages, but they don't actively seek that work. Timo would be an 8week wait and charges moonbeams for most work.

Craig at Mag and Turbo will be able to do one - just needs to borrow a bender from down the road. His work is good and price will be good too. If you suggest that you'll use them for alignments, tyres etc he'll be happy to look after you.

went and talked to nick today and he said i wouldn't be able to get one done until next year.

really isn't that much work surely there must be an engineering place around that isn't that busy and knows what they're doing...will call in at ashurst eng when i come back from the bay.

Owned. Craig would do it if you asked nicely / bribed with beer. Ashhurst are worth talking to and Brunton engineering do cages for quite a few stock car guys.

I didnt think he was that badly priced? Edhouse had his cage done there, and it was very well priced.
Rhys - nah, I think the welly guys are a bunch dearer, I know a few people from welly who've come up to get Timo to do their cages.
Do Goshen still do them?

Timo was nearly half the price of the other quotes that B1 got for his Corolla, and ended up putting in about another half dozen bonus bars for the same price as quoted.

I kid you not. Huge price difference.

B1's cage is awesome and the build quality is fantastic.
We will eventually be taking Chelles' Mirage to Timo next year for a cage.

Mine was done in Auckland by Dan Slater from Slater Fabrications.
Possibly the best welder I have met.
And the price was REALLY good around the $550 mark + materials.

Anywhere in Wellington charge a mortgage, Macbuilt quoted me $2500 for a basic cage, and $3400 for the cage I had built with about 6 less bars in it.

Timo at Octane automotive did the job for about half the price and in 3 days! Build quality compared to some I have seen around is about 1000 times better too!

Don't forget the rules on main hoop size changes on the 1st January 2011 for MSNZ, you will need the homologation completed by then, this will be an issue for anyone halfway through a project that doesn't meet the deadline .

true, so best to have a big main hoop fitted, to ensure no hassles if your project sits before paperwork is done
