fuel float not floating

Hey guys

so i was driving home and next thing my fuel gauge just starts dropping reallly fast all the way down to E and stayed there, turns out my fuel float has decided to stop floating.

short of replacing the sender unit, I've thought of just replacing the float but is there any other cheap easy ways?

could always try filling the float with expanding foam,
try and find a fuel resistant foam

does cork float in petrol?

yeah im just trying to find something that wont like break down in petrol.

all options considered....im a tight ass dont really want to buy a new sender

Just be sure to have a can of fuel handy if trying to work this out if you don't know how far you can go on one tank!

lol nice, that might have to do till i get a solution, im guessing that the float has a hole in it, short of trying plastic welding does any one know of a glue (loctite etc) that doesnt break down in petrol?

You could try hot glue gun. Or just soldering iron and "weld" the hole.

Put a duckling in it, u get to know how much gas you have and the duckling gets to swim...its a win win situation...u will know when you are low on gas as it will be able to walk around in the dregs at the bottom

go to pick a part and 'borrow' a float

Just go to pickapart and rob a float out of something else and make it fit
