Well my partner seems to constantly break things on her car (ST170/ST171 corona). Now the boot will not open, with the latch or with the key. When you put the key in it doesnt turn and when you pull the lever near the drivers seat it just pulls and you dont get that feel when it pops.

For some reason the back seats dont come down, so I think I will actually have to take it out to have a look. Is it possible to easily open a boot from the inside? I suspect it is not an issue with the cable, but the lock itself.

Any advise appreciated!

take the seat out and see if you can get to the latch.

Agree - sounds like unbolting the seat is the best approach (presumably something is wrong with the latch?).

Shouldn't be too hard to get to.

Definately something wrong with the latch though

Yep you will have to get the seat down. All you need is a flat head screw driver to flick the lever in the latch.

Ah sweet, never even looked at it so wasnt aware what I would be able to get to if anything. Will give it a go this weekend and see what happens

have you tried putting a bit of pressure on it while either turning the key in the lock or getting someone to pull the lever?

Maybe give it a wiggle either way might work if it has pressure on it somehow?

Just check that the lever below the lock inside the boot hasn't been moved... I own a ST171 2.0 GL. Moving house, took off sharpish, microwave hit lock. Thought I'd stuffed it because it wouldn't undo. Took plastic cover off and found a lever, moved it, everything started working again.

Of course, you have to get in the boot first.

lol, make sure you have a hammer ready to hit the hookers with when they make a run for it though.
