Battery in boot - Sealed/Dry Cell

Okay, i'm switching my battery to the boot. Only interested in sealed or dry cell battery options. Need to know what battery I need for my car.

All i'm running is Factory stuff, CD Headunit and 2 channel amp for front speakers. No other speakers and no sub. It has an alarm but is driven at least every 2 days.

Will a 300ca battery surfice such as the Vertex batteries on batterydirect.co.nz?

Any other options anyone can suggest? Weight isn't an issue. Just don't want to clutter boot up with a box so has to be sealed/dry cell. Any help is good. Don't want to spend too much...

Go talk to John - he bought the Gell cell that's in my car for $140 brand new IIRC. Sourced locally too.

if you want a real cheap option get a dry cell bat out of a jumpstart pack (i think they are the same as a motorbike bat). mine has been in there for almost a month and has only gone flat when i left the inside light on overnight.

have heard they kill themselves pretty quickly but have also been told this is due to overcharging. mine charges at bout 13.5V so not too high. cable must be enough resistance to keep it down a bit.

ran an oddessy in my celica for 2 years, and one ion my preious celica for 3 , it struggled with cold cold mornings but was fine for everything else .. you couldnt play the radio for longer than 20 mins with the car sitting there though , but you dont worry about that with a battery 1/3 the size of a normal one

I run 2 jump pack batteries (12V 17Ah) in the race car and it works fine.
I had separate starting issues at one point and I added the other battery as part of the troubleshooting. but I fixed that problem by adding a starter relay and I intend to go back to one battery as soon as I get around to it.

The battery would be a bit small if running stereo stuff, car alarm, or leaving the car for a while un-used etc.

I'm kinda confused as you say "don't not" so are you saying do listen to the advice or what?? :? If you're saying his advice is shit house, do explain why though...

my advise was not a 'how to' guide on what the OP should do, just my experience with the matter. take it as you will but i wasn't telling anyone to do it, just explaining what i did and how its working out for me.

pm DexGT (Webster) he runs a tiny dry cell in his race Starlet, and was talking to his battery supplier who had since sourced an even smaller motorbike battery with insane high CCA

Webster is running a Link, and they get really fussy about starting once the voltage drops too much.

The battery I used is that same size as PC has (size of jump pack battery) but is high discharge and 21 Ah , it cranked the rebuilt motor for 2 min to get oil pressure up and then happily started the car , and as Leon says links don't like low volts . The small battery had 280ish CCA , only downside is they both cost around $150ish
