Crowded supermarket or being tailgated?

Burning questions of the day answered by the Toyspeed populace

What is more annoying?

Doing the groceries in a crowded supermarket full of children(blind?) and retired people?

Crowded supermarket or being tailgated?

Postby Adoom » Sun Nov 21, 2010 6:19 pm

I don't know about anyone else, but I really dislike doing the groceries(paknsave) when its crowded. It seems like the whole place is full of really slow old people(65+) and swarms of seemingly blind children.
I feel like I have achieved something when I leave and I have not gone postal. I seem to have developed a twitch in my left eye every time I do groceries and the place is not empty.

I also really dislike being tailgated.
I'm driving 55 in a 50 and there is some bastard on my arse. Speed up and make some space.... bastard closes up to gap and is on my arse again.
Or you are in a loooooooooooong queue in a 100 zone, everyone in front of you is doing 90-100. But there's that bastard on my arse. WTF is he trying to achieve?! I can't go any faster, there is like 20 more cars going slow in front of me!!!
URGE TO KILL RISING! Just feel like slamming on the brakes and going all HULK on their car with a spare halfshaft or something.

Supermarket by far.

Tailgaters I usually ignore. Or If I'm feeling a bit emo either a left foot to activate brake lights or use the handbrake to slow and wake them up. the usaully back off after that.
No brake testing though!

supermarket scenario: can never escape slow, mindless people going about their boring lives.

tailgating scenario: speed the $&#$% up and see if they can keep up with you. if in traffic not much you can do though. :?

Definitely the supermarket. I hate people who piss round sooooo much! Especially when you're just popping in to get one or two things and there's some old lady trying and failing to use the self serve checkout.

That's awesome. We used to shop at PnS upper hutt too.
I can't stand the people that shop there, so much so that we have decided to start shopping at Woolworths over by Maccas in the main centre. It is a little more expensive sure, but soooo worth it to:
Park close to the door
Not mingle with Upper Hutt Trash
Have some checkout chick pack my bags

And the meat and veg seem to be better too.

i drive approx 30km each way to and from work. nearly every trip, someone will get a left foot brake light flash to get off my @rse, most people get the message, some people just dont seem to get it.

Pretty sure the Upper Hutt one is worse than the Lower Hutt one, but thats possibly due to space/layout. I tend to carve through traffic in supermarkets as quickly as possible, so dont tend to get stressed.
Do love how bogan upper hutt is, usually at least one chick in their pyjamas in there

Why do people get so worried about the cars behind them being so close?

Just dont look in the f'ing mirror as much.
Hate people who watch their rear vision mirror more than they watch the road.

And If someone brake tests me I usually just follow them closer to piss them off more,
as doing that is more dangerous than being floowed too close.

Becuase we are car lovers on this forum.... 1) We don't want our precious cars ruined by some a**hole riding our a**es too close and in the event of a sudden stop slamming into the rear of your car and 2) We don't like the idea of getting smashed into in the first place, in the event of a sudden stop.

Tailgating is stupid, there is no debating it.

Yes, that means you are probably that a**hole....

Back on topic, I don't do the groceries  If I did, my answer would probably be the groceries, can't stand little kids running around everywhere, and can always go a little faster to get away from tailgaters...
Cheers,
Brandon

The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

for people like you and me who spend time on a race track, have quick reactions and know how to stop a car quickly, it isn't an issue, however, 99.9% of the people on the roads, have no idea how to stop a car quickly. there reation times are horrible, and most of the time they would impact your/my car, before they even apply the brakes. Its also a driving offence.

Correct. but jaming on your brakes because "you think" the person behind is too close is even stupider.

I don't normally follow to close,
but on the odd occasion when someone thinks I am and they jam on the brakes, all it does is piss me off,
and if i feel it was unwarranted I have at times then shown them what following too close is.

Errr, the whole reason for the following distance is to give you time to realise the car you are following is not just slowing down, its really doing an emergency stop because of something you didn't see.

Tailgating is fine, as long as you know how hard the car in front is going to be braking. Are you telepathic?

Yeah but I think Matt's commenting more on the fact that a lot of people on the road can't judge distance in front of them, let alone behind them in a mirror and begin to panic when a cars behind them, even if it's at a safe distance.

Having been a passenger with Matt many times, I'd be more worried about him ducking up the inside. Or not seeing cyclist at night....

Crowded supermarkets (especially Pak n Saves) fill me with murderous intent.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I don't do the shopping, I do the lawns... what are you all doing the shopping for? :?

As for tailgaters, yeah they piss me off. Doesn't happen too often though, but slowing down to 40km/h makes me feel better.

In a hurry so you need to ride my bumper? i'll make the journey take even longer, has no affect on me, just aggravates the person behind more. Only bother to do that one single lane roads, ruins the fun if they can go in the other lane. Follow me even closer and i'll slow down more....

see how the system works? Be senisible and we head along at 5km/h above the limit, tailgate and get 40km/h. Which will get you there faster?
