Low and hard

Just brought a JZS147 Aristo. The cars been lowered and now rubs the back tyers on the gaurds and gives a hard and bumppy ride. Not what we want for a "family" car. Whats the best sujestion to lift up by a small amount and soften the ride?

as far as i know whats been done to ours, jzs147 springs, on jza80 shocks. not sure how, but worth looking into. works real well on ours, comfortable enough that kids in the back love the ride, but still enough that can throw it around if we want to.

Just give it 30 degrees of negative camber front and rear and you should be sweet

You really shouldn't change it, as that looks mint...


But getting some different springs would kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Perhaps Teins or similar springs with a good reputation.

What size tyres? I had my old one on JIC coilovers, and with 17x9s and 225/45/17s on the back i got no rub. They had +15 offset as well.

i think thats the 1 i ended up with?? rode real nice. even when i lowered it till it was pretty much on the ground teheheheh

Currently Running 275s on the back and 245 on the front. 19 inch rims.
Camber would look cool, and yes it does look "mean bro!" as low as it is. But still needs to be practical

Ive had both 147 and 161 aristos and haven't had rubbing or comfort issues.

147 was on 19x9 30ishp with 235/35 tyres, just on lowering springs, very slightly higher than yours, no guard roll and never had it rub - it rode like a magic carpet too

161 was on 19x9.5 35p with 15mm spacers, 235/35 and coilovers. Also slight roll, but no rubbing issues, and again - rode like a private jet.

They're such a heavy car that you shouldn't be having issues with the ride at all - unless the springs are too light (I think civic rears fit on the shocks) and the car is bottoming out?

Sounds like you need to come down in your tyre size, and maybe add a touch of camber - although these things gain heaps of camber as they bump, so prob only need a little

Are they coilovers or lowering springs?
If they are coilovers you could raise it a bit. They may even be damper adjustable so you could soften that up too. You may have to get a recert if you adjust it outside the 5% limit.

If they are just lowering springs then you will prob have to find some different springs that don't sit so low.

Nice Scotty I'm assuming its got a 2JZ under the hood???

Suspension wise what are you after it looks like its a bit of a dog to drive around the streets with it that low and the ride must be quite hard aswell.

By the sounds of things Ill need some new springs.
