Random trailer numberplate question

Postby .:O4AGTZ:. » Wed Dec 15, 2010 2:47 pm

Well I need to borrow my parents trailer on saturday to move some stuff around wellington region. Problem is that they used it to help my brother move from Te Kauwhata to Cheltenham, and in the process the numberplate managed to wiggle its way off and hence it is now somewhere in the north island. They will not have a new one before this weekend, and unfortunately what I need to do I need to do this weekend.

Am i able to just put the details on something else and stick it where the numberplate used to be as a temporary measure?

Cheers

I think that would be sensible. The other rule of thumb I'd follow is make sure you're only doing one illegal thing at a time, ie speeding wof/rego up to date. Write it in vivid on a cut down ice cream lid/real estate sign or similar and I'm sure you'll be fine.

* the plates were lost or stolen

just steal a give way sign, turn it over draw the rego numbers on in vivid, and screw it on :D

seriously though just do the ice cream lid/cardboard idea, if you get pulled over just explain to the cops

youll be fine
The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

Why not just get a new plate? Its not like they are going to go find the old one is it. So it's going to need a new plate put on at some stage. Unless of course its a rego number you really don't want to lose, but I doubt it.

If the plate is goneskies, unless its a personalised plate you will get a new one (no reprints). So just bite the bullet and get a new one from the post office. Could even register it as a new 2010 trailer and you get yearly warrants lol :P

Haha yea someone suggested that outside of this forum. End of the day its the parents trailer and they need to sort it. I just needed to borrow it and was wondering if I would get in trouble without it. I took a Sharpie with me and drew one on :)

Not sure on the legality of it, but it is now monday and I have no fines :)

How about "Thanks for letting me borrow the trailer mum and dad, to say thanks I picked up a new plate for you"
