ST215 Caldina sunroof wont open.

Postby cat007 » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:45 am

Hey

My partners sunroof has stopped working. The car was sitting for about 3 months and it hasn't worked since. Pressing one of the buttons has the motor making a noise as if it's going to work, for a 10th of a second, but the glass doesn't move.

I can wiggle and push the glass up and down ever so slightly, so it's not stuck. I've tried banging the glass while pressing all the buttons hoping to free it but to no avail.

Any suggestions on what part of these could lock up over time?

Should I just spray wildly with some WD40 and let it soak?

Cheers
Hunt

Not that I can see. The motor doesn't work for very long. It's like if you wind a window almost all the way up, then you press the button and it goes up a little more....

Hard to describe sorry

Have you taken the cover off the motor and turned with it an allen key(you will see an allen key slot in the centre shaft of the motor). The cover may be part of plastic surround with the rear view mirror or a round plastic disc in the headliner.

Ok so there's no allen key anywhere.

Here's what under the front interior light:

And here's a video of what the motor tries to do when pressing the forward then back "slide" buttons for the sunroof:
