Does any one know much about the autobox on these or other things i should know when looking at buying one?

Auto box isn't particularly flash, but they are reliable. If it does go pear shaped another auto would probably only set you back a couple boxes of beer.

Generally the automatic ones won't have had a hard life and should be very reliable. Check out the colouration under the cam cover for a good estimate of service history, golden = good, black sludge may result in some problems down the line with blown turbo oil seals.

Overall there's not much to go wrong. If it doesn't blow any smoke on cold start or full boost then they seem to go forever.
