Sticky residue on wires - how to clean off?

Postby cat007 » Tue Jan 11, 2011 9:43 am

I've taken my wiring loom apart and tidied it up a little - the only problem now (although it's not a major) is the previous electrical tape I used to wrap it all up, has left a horrible sticky residue behind.

What can I use to get rid of this? Will degreaser help? And what should I use instead of electrical tape to wrap up the wiring loom? Or is electrical tape the best solution?

Cheers

Good quality electrical tape is the way. Occasionally you can use heat shrink on exposed areas, or where you want a tight bind.

You can buy a specific "loom tape" that works just like ordinary
electrical tape, but comes off easier, and without leaving the sticky
residue on your wires. Ask for it at an auto electrical supply shop.

Dam forgot all about that stuff!

I'll see how I go with De-Solv-it and if it's no good (altho it better bloody be for the price!) I'll get some prepsol
