I just removed the front strut (drivers) and the shock has plenty of spring back left in it, better than the other ones i have here.

I wonder if its in the steering rack... if i chop down to say 3rd from 4th on the open road to overtake, as it comes on boost the car just rocks left to right and i have to fight it with the steering wheel.

What are the bushes like holding the rack in place?

the rear bushes on the longer arms have a fair bit of play in them... thats concerning

also the rear sway bar is tiny compared with the front one and there is a bit of play where the links mount up.. maybe the front one is out working the rear one?

fine, the rack has no movement at all. no visible leaks either.

The sway bars should only really effect balance in cornering (and the slopiness will just make it a bit shitty/unpredictable), however the play in the rear control arms could definitely be causing/contributing to the symptoms you've described

When you say "rocks left to right" That to me says it feels like someone grabbing the roof and rocking the car. I cannot imagine anything that would cause that.

Could also be that one side of the LSD has worn more than the other, putting all the grip/torque through to one side.

I know I'm preaching to the converted here... but I once had something similar happen when I had a sh*t pair of tyres with substantial wall movement on my car.

Oh - and another time when my trailer had somewhat deflated tyres - they just looked inflated because they had minimal load on them.

Would it be worth trying a different set ot tyres to see if the problem changes at all?

yeah im sure its not torque steer, the gearbox was apart less than a month ago and was all fine at the time.

Tyres... nice try :D I never have tyres on my car go under 1/2 tread, i just sell them as secondhand tyres and put a new set on my car haha

Im pretty sure it will be those 2 rear control arms that i found to be loose the other day, when i get back from the mount ill put it back on the hoist and change them to noelathane and report back..

i have got the same problem and its kind of annoying. from reading above i also suspect the rear control arm bushes as those are the only ones on my car that haven't been recently done with nolathane.

Yep i replaced the control arm bushes and its a lot more stable. still not perfect but is a lot nicer now!!

you can see there was a lot of movement, i forgot to take photos with the noeletahne in there but there is bugger all movenment now!

i only did the upper inner rear, not even the ones that go to the hub. will replace all the otehr ones at some stage. the fronts are already done.

can supply you the kit if you need it bro

Sounds a bit like torque steer as well to me.
And having suspension which is sloppy will make it worse.

Check your alignment again, you had the front end apart various times and most likely the alignment has changed quite a bit.

yeah, i made a bit of a mistake with a set of coilovers i sold for an ae82, so im gonna have to take them back....

Oh well guess ill just chuck them into my car :D

will check wheel alignment once those are in and new rubber goes on
