Resource consent has to be gained yet.... And in this area it could be tricky... Fingers crossed!

Just an update on Taranaki motorpark.
Word is from a man at the quary that tenders had gone out to build the track
An earthmoving operation was expected to do the work because they have one major asset - they have invested interest in the quarry. As to say ALL their rock is harvested from this spot and the spot is RIGHT NEXT TO THE INTENED MOTORPARK.
But, this is how the whole thing went sour. Said earthmoving operation wanted to mine the quarry themselves instead of "buying material from the quarry". Quarry said "No, you cant do that. You buy it from us like you have done for years."
Earthmoving operation said "Stuff you".
And to add some more - because said earthmoving operation has invested interest in the quarry - NO ONE ELCE CAN BUY FROM THEM.
Because other earthmoving operations would have to get there materials from further away, transport costs would blow the budget.
That was back in October last year which is to my understanding of why there has be nothing more on the matter....

Might be a bit of a thread hijack, but read the other day that Tony Quinn has brought a majority share in the Cromwell Motorsport park, and it's already resource consented, and I think its had final sign off by MSNZ, so should be NZ's next motorsport development.
Edit: he actually brought the whole thing, and is now sole sharelholder, and the park has been expanded, with better access off the state highway now.

Where is it with resource consent? Thats the huge thing in NZ
Got it a few years back, but Dippie and co ran out of money to do the development properly, hence the need for the Quinn investment.
I think the fact he just brought some property in Queenstown might have helped him want to invest in the project

2 years later and people are talking about putting a track somewhere else... what happened to the Taranaki one?
It unfortunately seems a safe bet that no more tracks will ever get built... and stay open.

I wouldn't say that. The fact that it's still ongoing is a good sign. It hasn't died yet (Nelson I mean, no idea of the Taranaki one)
