what can a wet weather do?

Postby Tagged » Tue Jan 18, 2011 6:34 pm

Haven't had such a wet day for a while now in chch.
Drove my car out 2day to pick up pizza, and it didn't drove right.

It felt like the gears aren't engaging properly and the power from engine isn't going to the wheels as much as it should be.

Could it be the sudden down poor?

Oh and I drove trough a couple of puddles on the way as well...if this makes and difference...

I hear cars get wet if you drive them in the rain, mine went fine today though, so I guess yours is just annoyed at you.

haha ok, apart from getting wet, here are what I felt when driving;

1. engine shaking abnormally, like when you are about to stall
2. idle lower than usual, again feeling like its gonna stall
3. step down on gas at 50km/h, car shakes hard and engine sounds louder but not picking up speed
4. opened the bonnet and yea, you can see the engine is actually shaking harder than usual, not just feel like it

a friend asked "mis-firing?" what does that exactly mean?

hmm guess its not the clutch coz the old clutch was blown by the previous owner in a burnout, and they replaced it with new exceedy clutch. I bought it after that :P

sounds like a few bucket bongs before you left home, followed by loss of traction....

youre probably just being paranoid, you were probably just paying more attention to your car than usual

Could be many things, I strongly recommend dropping by a mechanic tomorrow.

I'll go with sparking issue. leads, dizzy, sparkplugs... maybe water in there somewhere.

Actually my 2nd guess... after the first few posts I realised that BHG was missing from the list :D

Sounds like the electronics have got some moisture build up somewhere. Preventing full ignition to the spark plugs. Could be anything from the plugs through to the leads, dizzy cap, to the igniter.
