Postby doin donuts » Wed Jan 19, 2011 8:48 am

hey all

as most know i have an ae85 levin, just had the car painted but didnt get bumpers done as i want them black, they are a real faded black/grey colour . what is the best paint to use? i know getting it done by panelbeaters etc is best but cashflow wont let it(neither will the wife :D )

and if someones done these bumpers before can you give me best way of doing it as in what to use to clean it etc?

thanks all

if the bumpers are just black plastic and not painted, you could just try some formula 2001 or whatever its called.

Might be worth a go before painting anyways

Hey, if they are still unpainted plastic.
I think a good clean with dishwashing liquid would do the trick, the cleaner the better.
Then you will need to get a plastic adhesion primer, you can get it in a spray can. This will help the paint/primer stick to the surface.
When I painted my rear bumper black again, I used a product by K&H made for bumpers.
I get all my stuff from Car Colours on the north shore. Very helpful guys if you have any questions. But I guess any car paint shop should have the right products.
