How many regulars does this sub forum have?

Postby Mr Ree » Fri Jan 21, 2011 11:02 am

It seems to be like a ghost town in here so I was wondering if there are many lurkers that just dont post or is this how busy the Welly section always is?

It would be good to get a show of hands on who uses this area regularly.

If there are enough people, maybe we could have a proper meet sometime or organise an event for us to attend as the thursday night meets arent really an event, just a good excuse to pack in some cholesterol at burger fuel lol.

Ideas?

Bf is the Thursday meet pretty much. You can get from no people showing up some nights to about 8 (the regulars). Kind of why I never bother going consistently. Not quite like the Palmy meets where people show up like they would church

Yeah mate i hear you. I came along to 2 or 3 or the thursday meets but I dont really see the point as I can go and have a burger any day of the week.

Do you think there is any hope of enough people being interested in the idea to actually organise a proper Wellington meet one weekend so more people would be likely to attend?

The benefits are daylight so we can see what everyones been doing to their cars, more time so we can go for a drive somewhere, and it being an event might draw in more than 8 people.

Im guessing there must be more than 8 Welly/hutt members on here that would be keen to look at planning something?

Ideas and suggestions are welcome and appreciated :)

Thanks

I don't do the Thursday burger thing these days, as it is a clash with my gym timetable.

But, many of the Toyspeeders these days have joined Harbour Capital Car Club, so there's typically good numbers of folk from here at the motorsport events.

The next big one is 6th Feb, which is a competitor coaching day for newbies being run at Slipway (back of Brooklyn, past the Wind Turbine).

Could be worth coming along if you want a day being trained in thrashing your car around cones, and also meeting some peeps from wayyyyyyyyy back in the Toyspeed scene.

I imagine weekday nights clash with almost everyones schedules too.

I have heard about the HCCC but I went to their site and didnt see a forum, maybe Im going blind in my old age.

Cheers for the heads up about the slipway event too Leon, I might go up to check it out if Im around as I live quite close to the venue.

Cheers

There isn't an HCCC forum 8) But we meet in person on a regular basis (often to zoom around cones, but not always). Also there's a facebook group too.

http://www.seabrightmotorsport.co.nz/forum/index.php is the local motorsport forum (general, not specific to HCCC or anyone in particular).

Plenty of members around, but as with anything in life, everyone has different schedules so cant always come ever week. Perhaps organise a meet and see how many show up?

Or alternatively head along to the usual thursday one and see if you can drum up some interest with the people there in doing something different. At least that way you know who you're talking to.

I dont have any toyotas anymore so just a lurker pretty much, but if you want to get an event going, you could try a combined effort with another group, maybe OLDSCHOOL.co.nz or similar

I'm sure if you try and organise some kind of event then people would be keen to turn up. Unfortunately the weekly thing usually dies over the winter because of the cold/lack of light/increasing costs.

A lot of us are at the HCCC events (it's my fault the site isn't yet updated with this years events! I'm getting there I promise...) and sometimes out on Thursday nights at BF.

I can attest that there is just the same amount of BS thrown around a HCCC club night or Wellington motorsport event as there ever is at a Toyspeed get together

I'm always looking on the forum.

Haven't been to a Hutt meet because it isn't cheap for me on gas blah blah blah.

I'm starting to have a lot of interest in street races/auto crosses etc though :D

I raced at the drags and I looked at the sprints but the entry was a bit much for this month

May pop out for a look though.

I'm keen to head to a meet as soon as my cars all legal and reliable. Might go and watch the sprints on sunday.
