94 ln85 hilux diesel tank size / fuel guage sender

Postby AE85.6 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 12:32 pm

Just wandering if anyone know how big the tanks are in these utes ?
Have recently bought one and sadly the gauge does not read correctly so im kinda filling up by k's and faith at the moment.

A mate told me that all the utes had smaller tanks than the surfs etc so maybe 40-45 L instead of a 60-65, dunno if that sounded right or not ?

Will have to check the fuel sender out when I get a chance.

cheers for that ee904age.

On a side note does anyone know where the fuel sender is ?
I thought it was under the rear seat on the drivers side but may be wrong.

Had a quick look under the truck and couldn't see one on the side of the tank at all ? although was parked tight up next to the house so could be on the other side will have to move it in the day light or jack it up to look.

the sender is on top of the tank on most Hiluxs.
it is not uncommon for the sender float to either dissolve (the hard foam looking ones) or jam up (for the plastic float) causing a misreading.

Cheers for that fangsport.

Been getting home in the dark so haven't done much since but had another quick look before completely dark and looked to be a wire running to the top of the tank which is where I expected it to be.

I would have thought there would be an access hole under the seat or somewhere to get to it though ?

If not I guess I would have to drop the tank down to check.
