So in about November of last year i bought a car the same morning as picking it up a lady backed into me in the parking lot.

I Have photos of her car including number plate ect... We exchanged phone numbers ect.

So I have been calling her and I have now left 7 voice mail messages none of which have been replied to. So I got a report on her car, so i know her full name and suburb she lives in but not address.

Firstly on car jam all i could see was her last wof inspection date, but I cant see history, I know it would have been within a day of her warrant expiring from the mileage history on car jam. Is there a way I can check the history of when she had the warrant, because there was a recheck or something part way through.

Secondly is there anyway I can track down her address.

Now, I was not insured at the time because it was the day I picked up the car. (I am not at fault) but this means I cant use my insurance company to chase it up.
Also if she had no WOF her insurance wouldnt cover her, hence why she is being such an ass.
What can I do if say she doesnt answer her phone switches numbers ect...

I should also add very little damage was done to my car, as in theres a couple of scratches and a paint mark(nothing to worry me its an older car) I was going to say if you pay me some amount less then your excess then I would call it quits, but since shes being an ass I now wont.

Start with the white pages online, who = surname, where = suburb, with a little bit of luck you only have one match (provided they are listed of course)

This. Although it happened a while ago.. I don't like your chances of the police being much help. Have you got any other proof, like photos of both cars, a solid date etc? Did she admit fault?

Waste of time, it is a civil matter. You are only required to report it to the police if you are unable to identify the owner of property damaged and advise them. Since phone numbers were exchanged that is covered.
Disputes tribunal is your only real option. Get a couple of high end quotes to repair it then send her a letter outlining what happened and her admitting fault at the time, the steps you have taken to contact her etc. Advise she can either settle for a lesser amount than the quotes within xx days due to saving you the trouble of pursuing further or you will be filing with the disputes tribunal on xx date as well as claiming for recovery costs incurred.

Unless the reason for her having no WOF was the reason for hitting your car, then they will pay. Like if she had bald tyres and ran off a wet road into your car.

Too many people are misled by insurance companies about having no vehicle licence or WOF that they aren't covered by insurance. The Insurance Reform Act 1977 protects you in this case.

A couple scratches? Unless you have nothing better to do, just walk away. Next time get insurance BEFORE you drive the car away.

THIS, I heard about people driving away from car yards etc and having crashes on the way home lots, When I bought my Levin I called and got it insured before I left the yard, 20mins later a guy rear ended me at a roundabout, Nothing major but enough to make you think aye, I know it is too late for you in this case but maybe others can learn from it.

Have you talked to your insurance company about the issue? Are they not willing to help at all?

No I havent talked to my insurance at all yet, I assumed being an insurance company and the accident happening before I was insured with them that they would not want a bar of it.

As for dropping it, I probably would have but since shes down right ignoring me that winds me up....

The idea about the electoral role, is a good one. I never thought of that and I have had no luck with White Pages.

had a friend who had shit like this happen - the other guy legged it while saying to my friend "you dont know where i live AHAHAHAHA" and took off

but ahh my friend got his numberplate - he goes home - carjams it - get the list of previous owners - find the current owner - then just looks up the phonebook - withing 5 minutes he had a phone number and address

so he pulled up to the guys house and paid a visit - the guy near on shit himself when he rrealised hed been tracked down and was offered 2 options - pay the cost of the damage up front now or refuse and take it to court - the guy paid up

so if you have his name just look up the phonebook - you might get lucky?

All good advice, found out from the electoral roll she works as a legal assistant.
Could be interesting, I know from her insurance company that she hasn't made a claim.
I don't think i would take the situation to far, just people playing dumb/hard to get wind me up.

P.s she did drive an mx5 :p
