tyre thread/replace

Postby Tagged » Tue Feb 01, 2011 2:53 pm

my cars WoF is due and I was checking the tyre thread today, found out that both tyres on the LHS are pretty worn out, and the two on the RHS are fine.

does this mean anything? or is it just the curving of road causing it.

oh and wheres a good place for replacing tyres?

thanks

Do you take right hand corners faster than left hand corners?

any tire shop is good for changing tyres, or youre driveway if you know how to do it
The four seasons in Australia consist of "$&#$% it's hot", "Can you believe how $&#$% hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too $&#$% hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat."

On a serious note.

Were they ever even tread all around in the first place? Could have been two worn on the front then at some stage they were taken off and put on just one side.

As long as there is 1.5mm of tread of 75% of the surface it should pass. Unless the rules have changed.

you've got a point. iv only had this car for less than a year and the tyres were never changed in my ownership, so yea....I guess theres the possibility that they weren't evenly threaded to begin with. HAHA~

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, there's normal & abnormal wear from alignment & balance & inflation.
What'cha got?

the wear is pretty even through out the treads, and they've only been aligned recently as to inflation, i recall inflating them to the same pressure as well

Get new tyres to replace the worn ones, get alignment, done.

Did I miss anything?

Oh, a mix match of tyre brands / tread levels isn't always good. So try move things around to fix that while you're at it.

As for changing tyres at home....lol

easy to change 15s etc, id never try to change 235/35/18s again tho lol, that was a mission

edit* just watched that youtube video, we didnt drive on it with a van, we just used steel bars to pry the tyres on/off

you mean like in my case, im changing the two on the left. so it might be better to move the right front one to the back to make the two tyres in the front and the back match?
