Things to do/see in Auckland

Postby Lurkin » Mon Feb 07, 2011 9:56 pm

Will be up there for the next two weeks (from Wellington), on work with a weekend in between..

just wondering what to do/see while in Auckland, will be staying very close to the skytower.. really needs to be in walking distance as I won't have a car

ideas?

Walk along tamaki drive to kelly tarltons or catch a bus there

walk to the museum in the domain

get a gelato ice cream from the ferry building at the bottom of queen street and walk along the viaduct

marvel at our lack of wind and houses that aren't built on a sheer clif face

Catch a bus and go out to MOTAT. They've got some pretty cool stuff there, Denny Hulme's Cooper Climax is on display at the moment. Also I'd recommend Deus Ex Machina if you like bikes... it's a cafe with some really nice food and a big collection of motorcycles. If you're a speedway fan there's the NZ Midget Champs at Western Springs Speedway, Feb 12th.

You could be a tourist and look at animals and pretty sights but what you really want to do is go into mermaids, sip away ice cold beers and watch some beauty chicks get their gear off

If you do go to motat, make sure you go to the Aviation Collection in Sir Keith Park as well.

Not many people seem to know that your entry into the main MOTAT get you in to there as well. Plus old planes= cool

Take the ferry over and climb Rangitoto?

Thought Showgirls was pretty good, Rammstein and Rob Zombie cranking, decent girls getting their gear off. Metric shitload better than anything in ChCh
