Car alignment places?

Postby Akane » Fri Feb 11, 2011 8:59 pm

Has anybody got good recommendations for some epic car / wheel alignment shops? Good if they can check out if the suspension components are bent as well, thanks.

Go see THASHZ at Mullens Tyres on Barry's Point Rd in Takapuna. Ain't nobody better on here.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

If your south side then prestige tyre & Auto do an awesome job and really take of your car plus they do lots of rally tarmac cars so are well versed.

Must say though i went to Mullins the other day for a couple of tyre strips and they were a friendly bunch. Pete is the younger guy ? Suppose thats his race FXGT parked there ?

What makes you say this? We have been there and for some reason they dont change valves unless they look like they need to be changed which resulted in going back there to have this fixed.
Other than that it was all good but just wondering what you think makes them awesome.

Last time i checked you didnt need to replace any valves for an alignment ? :) Ok im being cheeky but they have always been good to me and to be honest when they do an alignment i can trust it unlike some other places I have taken my car to, I took mine to MATC the mag guru once and after he took the car down he 'wanted to check the car drove straight' While this is a normal practice i didnt think he quite needed to take it to 20psi to check this on the streets :( I recalled it on the boost gauge once he came back.

Prestige took the time to explain adjustments etc. The owner gave me free advice on how to setup the car for track, what to look out for. I must have done this every other time i went there so i guess i am grateful for that. Remember there are always going to be workers that do things a certain way and take less care than others but the guy that does the alignments is only one and he takes his time.

Infact I would say 90% of tyre shops dont actually put in a new valve if the old one was fine and had air in the tyre before coming in.

See that's something to really bugs me, thrashing a customers car. I had an exahust shop do some work ages ago and after I got the car back checked on RSM to find that the guy had given it a thrash at some stage (and did a piss poor job on exhaust). It's enough reason for me to never go back. Clearly no respect for a paying customers property.

I'm happy with wheel alignment guy testing car to see that it's driving straight - they have to check their work
