Suspension clunck - NON susperstrut

Postby eskimo » Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:10 am

Hi

My RN90 Hilux seems to have developed a weird clunk coming from the right hand side when your turning left and go over a bump/uneven surface

I orignaly thought id run over something but its now done it a few times on various left hand corners.

It has been lowered a little but isnt on its ass. I dont think its bottoming out or anything so was wondering what I should look at when under it.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Jordon

Check the steering stops - a bolt with a nylon cap on it

So ive sused out what the clunk is, the muppet who had it befor me has turned the rear bump stops 180d and the right hand U-bolt is hits the chassis rail with decent bump and weight on that side.

Im planning to fit slightly smaller blocks and have the leafs reset a little higher than they are currently set at so I can put the bump stops back to where they should be. This should still leave it low enough for my liking and sit level while still be safe.

Looking at the leaf springs I think one or two leaves have been removed. It currently only has three per side... how many should be there in standard form...4-5??
