Nope, I though i had done some bottom end damage, but it was a bit of turbo jammed into the cylinder head which was getting contacted by the piston when at TDC..
Hoping to make around 260KW with the rebuilt motor and new turbo, but time will tell.

As said above J series motor FTW they are not that much bigger..

I'm not just wanking on about 1g hate, It's just that the jz engines are that much better, and you will thank me later.

Any reasons for not using a 1g-fe? lack of torque?

According to the owners manual the ute (86 Sr5 xtracab) weighs 1150kg and google says Is200=1360-1380kg, 119kw and 200nm will be a great improvement over the 66kw of slug 3Y and with the price of gas just going up and up economy is the name of the game

1GGTE/1GGZE is a popular conversion in aussie as 3y engine mounts bolt onto the 1G block, chassis mounts may have to be shifted but thats easy.
I love a 1GGZE for supercharged goodness but hard to find these days and so are parts as mentioned.

1G bellhousing to suit the w50 $100ish on trademe compared to $665 for a niteparts JZ bellhousing

you can also use 3t bellhousings for 1gs.

FYI from experience driving 1gs as daily drivers, the 1ggte uses less gas than the 1gge and they are both pretty good
zing! Sig got nuked. Sorry bout that.

Yea i'm all about torque, the last thing you want to do is slam a motor in and be left wanting for torque when you want to tow something.

If you are lucky, stock jz bellhousings and flywheels come up for sale every so often.
It is a myth that emos are contagious, and you may be infected. However, it is still widely accepted to wash your hands after physical contact
