moisture collecting around No3 spark plug 4A-GE 20v

Postby softlad » Thu Feb 24, 2011 6:44 pm

I have what seems to be the usual 4A-GE hesitation.
On Sunday I checked the plugs, dizzy & rotor, The plugs are a nice color indicating a good burn and the dizzy cap isn't too bad same with the rotor.
But what I did find in Plug recess No3 was water, which I though could have been the result of the previous owner jet washing the engine, which I have come across in the past.
I thought I would check the resistance of the HT leads tonight and have found more moisture around No3 plug.
What would cause this??
I'm new to Toyota and have searched the web for an answer with no results, however, it has alot to do with the words in the search.
Any suggestions?

Is it very similar to the engine's coolant or not??

I assume you are talking water in the sparkplug tube - then only way it is getting there is through the lead. Most likely either you haven't gotten rid of all water last time or lead is letting water (condensation) through.

doubt the hestitation is from the mositure - check out the search function for this it has been covered many times.

As for the moisture, really need to know more about it to provide you a useful answer?

what does it look/ feel like? is it water/ coolant, oil??

Mine tends to leak abit of oil I think from the rocker covers - but doesnt cause any problems?
