tyre/spring rage

Postby Lurkin » Sat Mar 05, 2011 7:04 pm

hmm. purchased 17's with a set of new tyres...

then swapped out dodgy red lowering springs for a set of dobis + replaced shocks...

seems to have changed the way the car 'sat', where the rear sits lower, and the front seems about the same..

although now it seems to have guard rubbing at the top when thrashing around corners....

options:

- sell 17's switch to something smaller
- roll/ flare the guards?

ideas?

anyone know anywhere to get assistance/ advice in wellington?

What was dodgy about the red springs?

How low?

Rubbing front or rear or both?

How wide are the tyres?

have surface rust/ no idea of what they are/ not happy with how high they sat at the back vs height of the front (suspect sagging in the front). Having now taken them off and inspected them I think they would actually be ok.. but seeing as i got the new dobi springs for next to nothing I figured they would be worth swapping over.

not sure how to answer how low.. never had stock springs in it so cannot tell how much lower than factory its sitting.

I think its only rubbing in the front drivers side wheel.. but havent had a passenger yet so cant tell if it will also rub on the passengers as well.

the tyres are 205/40/17.

thinking I might chuck some chalk over the guards tomorrow and go for a blat to be sure of exactly where they are rubbing.. but from what I can tell now definitely seems to be the very top of the guard...
