Soo.. 2 weeks till the first race, what are our thoughts now...

My thoughts update (fastest to slowest groups):
Ferrari/Red Bull definite leaders
Mercedes/McLaren (and will probably DNF based on recent experiences)

Mid pack is pretty hard but...
Renault/Williams/Torro Rosso
Force India/Sauber/Lotus (tempted to put these guys up higher)

Backmarkers
Virgin
HRT (scraping in under 107%)

McLaren will be struggling to get both cars into the top 10 shot out, stoked couldn't happen to a nicer team :)

Im sure there are more than a few people at Mclaren who are sweating at the moment, not a good way to head into the season, thats for sure.

Very nice to see Mercedes have some better times at the final test, the new parts seem to have brought about 1 second to the car which was sorely needed if Im being entirely honest. Any slip up by RB or Ferrari will be pounced upon by Michael and Nico.

Only 10 days to go until they hit the track for the first practice session...I CANT WAIT !!!

Do you mean they won't qualify in top 10 or won't finish in top 10? I have no doubt that they will be in Q3.

In terms of this year, it seems like they took a punt and lost with a radical design - the team has been in this situation before due to being overambitious in their goals. Doesn't suddenly mean they will fall to the back of the grid, might mean another insignificant year though... poor Lewis :). Besides, they already have a backup in place to fix the exhausts, hopefully this means they will only be off the pace and not unreliable as well :P.

Definitely good to see Mercedes jumping up the order after last test day, nothing like adding another good team at the top to make the racing more interesting.

I also can't wait to see some times with all car's in qualifying trim.

Martin Whitmarsh of Mclaren has said that they are going to be bringing a pile of parts to Melbourne and "Taking a big risk" putting them on the car in a huge attempt to gain 1 full second to catch up to the front runners.

Lets just wait and see how this weekend rolls out before making any big claims about their pace.

If there is 1 team who knows how to develop over a season, its them.

On a side note...GO MICHAEL!!!!!

P.S Great seeing an F1 car at Bathurst. The only reason the Lowndes was a mere 1 second slower is because he knows that track like the back of his hand, has lapped it hundreds, if not thousands of times, and will be aware of every little bump in the track.

Jenson would have been leaving so much on the table to avoid a PR nightmare of putting it in the wall from pushing too hard. Given some more track time, I would expect the time gap to keep increasing in JBs favour. (Nothing against Craig in that statement either)

They should have had "(Obviously)" at the end of that title.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I just cant bring myself to not watch the races live. Reagrdless of how useless it makes me on mondays im up with a cup of dilmah on the edge of the couch. :) Canada and Brazil have always been killers, Austin next year will be another I expect.

I havent missed a race live since the beginning of the 97 season when sky picked it up, apart from one bloody time for Imola 2005 as I had to dj somewhere that night... I ran home and set my recorder and accidentally pressed the mute button when I put the remote down.

Worst experience ever coming home the next day to settle into an epic race.....but in complete silence! :(

The man has some valid points though, he just doesnt really do "diplomatic" as well as he could.

As much as I love hairdryers, F1 wouldnt be F1 if you didnt hear the cars start up from 4kms away. The noise is half of the attraction for the casual fan so for that reason alone I have to say.....stick with high revving NA motors of atleat 2.5 ltrs and atleast 6 cylinders

ANYWAYS>>>>3 hours to go until they hit the track...cant wait :)

Haven't looked at what the regs are going to be but would be pretty sweet if they end up having similar setups to the 80's - Big turbo's and big power 8)
