Yea for sure, I was was just speaking in general. It was the biggest factor in me not buying a MS3 at the time, looks good for the future

Any reason not to go ms if you want to eventually turbo?

the plan i have in my head is to put it on my smallport as standard, then eventually turbo my smallport

Nah they're perfectly capable on both. They come stock with a 2.5bar (iirc) MAP sensor so will read up to 21psi boost. This is upgradeable to a 4bar sensor if you want to run more boost. Or you can install any other external MAP sensor (including Link sensors) and the ECU can be rescaled for the new MAP sensor.

I run an old wire in Link plus in my starlet, sure it's not the flashest piece of hardware out there but it starts well and drives pretty nicely, with decent economy...

Just remember the ability to tune and monitor you engine will make or break the whole car..

Sure it possible you could do what steve is suggesting but until I see him build a "hotrodders" efi lawnmower controlled by a a late model evo ecu copmplete with obdII wiring to check for fault codes i'd steer clear of that option.. You'd end up bald/grey haired/both before the thing ever got running. :twisted:

Link is a good value for money product, the support is just a phonecall away. You could try and save a few bucks and pick up a second hand unit and get it upgraded?

If you go down the megasquirt route I think you'll need to be near the top of your game to end up with a unit that will work as well as a link..
the only expericence I have with the MS is a good one.. Although it came from someone whi is very proficent in the backyard mechanic game..

Wiring in your own link or building your own MS is not "chequebook" racing as far as i'm concerned..

How easy/hard is it to wire in a MS V2.2 into a AE101 BT 4age? The only experience I've had with wiring ecus was with a Legacy trying to wire in a STi ecu. Was a real mission cause the engine loom and the electrics loom was all mashed together. I'm assuming the AE101 loom is a lot more straight forward?

one problem is they only have one vr input. (cas tigger) 4age's run dual wheel. so you either have to grind some teeth off the 4age cas wheel, so it works with the one vr input. or another vr input can be added to the ms1. but is a bit of dicking around.

other than that its just the same as wiring in any other aftermarket ecu. should be fairly straight forward, in a ae101
