Can't compare the 80s with now, aero is sooo different now. Not to mention other rules to do with floors etc.
RPM cap also makes a difference.

The new gen turbos will still have 750ish hp when coupled with the KERS

Think we will just have to agree to disagree on this one in regards to McLaren

Yeah I think greenies have pretty much killed any chnace of F1 ever returning to the glory days of the 80tys

agree to disagree

As opposed to having an argument based on facts and reasons.. I suppose this is the internet.

Yes they had the data, yes they used some of it and as Revhead says, the car was inspected and cleared. You can read about it if you want. :). Lets not forget, the guy who gave out the data did so seemingly of his own accord because he was frustrated by the environment at Ferrari.

In regards to comments about Indy having more power than F1, they are already 'the fastest drivers in the world', does it challenge F1 as the pinnacle, not one bit.

Anyway, back to this season. Practice 1 was sweet. Good to see Mclaren putting in a lot of laps for a change :). Also interesting that the undertray is COVERED with heat reflecting material - continuation from old octo exhaust? desperate need to control heat? managed to get octo exhaust working? who knows. Justin, also read on a few sites that FIA was looking pretty closely at McLaren's exhausts in the pits :). Fans should know by now that competative sport about rules interpretation, double diffusers anyone... And Chandhok, heh, what an idiot. Was definitely cool to see Webber lay down the signs at the end that the Bull is again going to be a tough animal to beat. Hopefully if Mclaren doesn't/can't take it then he will.

Practice 2 now :)

at the end of the day, this issue was resolved and dealt with. had Ferrari been guilty of the same.......water under the bridge springs to mind??

I bet Mclaren are very happy with what they got through. Very impressive performance by all accounts.

Cant wait until people stop holding their cards close to their chests and have to put down for qualifying.

I'm pretty sure that you could put any F1 car on a track (apart from maybe HRT, because it seems like that thing is allergic to racetracks) and trim it to suit :P.

One thing about the American racing series (Nascar, Indy, Nascar trucks) is that they really know how to entertain. However, like many things American, nobody really cares outside America

NASCAR is awesome, so close and intense!
Funnily enough the V8s tend to have qualy times just as close as them...

McLaren don't look as slow as people thought, hows that hat looking Justin?

Well if Vettels P3 quali simulation lap time is anything to go by, the race is going to be a Red Bull white wash.

I hope Mark can atleast put some pressure on him as I cant see any other team being close enough during the race given how the red bulls treat their tyres.

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Wow, surprises surprises, I only caught the last 2 mins but seemed like an awesome qualifying.

Awesome awesome lab from Vettel, 0.8 s on top of the McLaren. Also interesting that neither of them used Kers (Vettel by choice, Hamilton through unreliability).

Petrov.. where did that come from, again, if only Kubica was around :).

Again, Rosberg outqualifies MS, but Mercedes a bit off the pace. Bet MS will be fuming, especially with such a close margin to Q3.

and surprise surprise, no HRT. They ain't gonna get any sponsors if they aren't even on the grid.

Heres hoping for McLaren to continue the good work tomorrow!

Anyway that was the best/worst qualifying i've seen in a while. Was quite intense. Can't wait till the race tomorrow just hope Ferrari sorts their shit out and gets back up there. Couldn't really believe how fast Vettel was. Dissapointed with Schui especially after his p2 times. Nevermind anything can happen in the race tomorrow.

What a session!

Schu's kers wasnt working and even though that would have gained him enough to get into Q3, the Mercedes hasnt brought forward its form from the last test.

Cant wait to see how the race evolves tomorrow though. Every car is going to use its tyres differently so expect massively different strategies :)

The picture wont be clear until the last lap hopefully :)

Well that was a somewhat disapointing start for mercedes! Ferrari didn't seam to be able to find their edge.

Be interesting to see if the marshals decide against hamilton for finishing with such damage.

Its not the damage thats the problem, its the wooden plank under the bottom of the car. Has to be a certain thickness after the race to prove that the car didn't exceed a minimum ride height.

As to the verdict I dunno.. extraordinary circumstances but it definitely happened as a results of accident damage soo... Listening to the commentators, in the past similar things have happened (too thin as a results of accident damage) and failed scrut. That and the fact that Ferrari International Assistance will get the chance to bump Alonso onto a podium spot means I am anxious to see if the results hold.

Overall, awesome race with a lot of good fighting. DRS is rubbish (at the moment, doesn't work as intended) and how about RB not even using KERS!
