Which day is more significant to you as a New Zealander?

With the debate about shops not being open on ANZAC day morning and there being lots of media coverage of ANZAC events, It got me wondering, which is more important to the average Kiwi?
In other words which day do you most feel encompasses the spirit of what it means to be a New Zealander?


Note, there will be NO racist remakes tolerated, no ranting about religion, no arguments about Apple or Android. Keep it clean and on topic

For me, ANZAC day is much more significant.

I think that many New Zealanders are from a different time, and don't understand just how much the war rocked the nation and the world.

At the same time, I keep wondering if it is something we should keep bringing up. War is horrible, and is the death of millions of people over such selfishness and self righteousnesses is a bitter page in human history.
Sure, we are celebrating the heroes that fought for our freedom, but its the reason they had to fight which was so terrible...

I think I'll always be in 2 minds about it.

Anzac day for myself. I think it's important to remember the men that gave their lives for a "better world".

Personally I couldn't care less about waitangi day. It's a good excuse for a day off work other than that doesn't matter to me at all.

i voted anzac day purely for the fact i woke up next to a smoking hot blonde american girl last year on anzac day.

in other words neither has much impact on me, theyre both just another day off work

I do think shops should be allowed to open over easter as it is only religously significant to one part of society. But Anzac days reduced trading hours are fair and show alot of respect to the Brave men who fought to give us the freedom we take for granted.

I don't have any personal attachment to either day really. I can respect the likes on ANZAC etc, but that's about it. Probably due to the fact my family came over on a ship a couple generations ago so never fought for NZ directly

personally im not a fan of either day
the treaty has become a reason to try and get as much money as they can out of the claims, not a reminder of the things that are meant to be good

and anzac day, yeah its about the people that passed fighting for their country, but i dont think wars are something that should be remembered

ANZAC day is not about remembering the wars.
It's about remembering those who served and fought in them.

Both for me, Both celebrate the past, history and the shaping of NZ.

I actually thought it was going to be a poll of Easter Monday vs ANZAC day, For me that would be ANZAC day for sure.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed but Stuff.co.nz as well as other media sources print it as Anzac day, which to me is wrong, it kinda seems like all the importance is in the first A and the rest of the acronym doesn't matter, Any one else notice this/agree or am I just over thinking things?
