Theres another 2 GT-Fours to add to the list, both from Hawkes Bay a red GT-Four with C-One bodykit, and a stock* silver one, haven't seen either in a while, so cant remember if they're either a 94 or even a Japanese WRC version...

Just FYI (For completeness sake)

There are two confirmed 1997 NZ New - Silver GT4's floating around.

I owned one but subsequently sold it.

It was silver, 55kms, leather interior and matched the specification of what gt4dude was saying.

It's near identical twin had a sunroof but lower kms.

Both were NZ New vehicles (well, mine still had its log book so could verify).

I bought and sold mine for around $13k. Which seemed a reasonable price for what it was. The other was trying offered for $23k, which is very steep.

I've always wondered what the fuss was about for WRC models. They didn't really have any distinguishing features to mark them out, apart from the addition of a spoiler and engine components that weren't that useful. I've owned 3 ST205 and they all look and feel pretty much the same to me. (Note: Not an intention to start a flame war. I love all ST205's equally, regardless of heritage)

It's nice to see ST205's still rolling around. Good luck to all putting an ST205 club together and keep their cars on the road.

Dredging up old topic, but another 1994 NZ new ST205 is now dead. VIN JT764STL500006081 per trademe auction 445896075.

Guess rarity of NZ new cars just jumped so I need to add another grand to my asking price!

I tend to agree, personally i think the best model to own is the 1998 facelift due to its younger age and subtle improvements

if Jeremy is right, then the block for one thing is meatier between cylinders

WRC is more weight without extra function, and once you head down the path of modification, you can build a better car anyways, like for example water injection with even distribution, less spaghetti (engine bay is too busy), better manifold design, lighter parts (specifically the manifold, turbo, downpipe and front exhaust sections)

My car weighed 1340 with aircon, airbags, full interior, spare tyre, still has sounds, half a tank of gas, oil, coolant, all fluids, etc. I don't know what it was stock, but im sure it was heaps--1380???

I'd actually like to see someone activate the antilag system though, the pipework and the antilag valve are actually perfect for it, to achieve something like this

How does that anti lag system work? I thought with antilag you get all the crackling and backfiring from the exhaust?

That's the Subaru WRC antilag system. It very complicated. It operates the turbo as a gas turbine engine when activated to make lots of boost at very low engine speeds/load when the system is activated. That's why their cars leave the start line below 2000rpm while other manufacturers use the conventional 5-6000rpm launch control system. You will never get this type of system out of a stock ST205WRC's hardware - it's a whole other ball game.

Just before it leaves the line, the system is activated.

The pops and bangs you hear normally are from retarding the ignition timing and enriching the fuel map in a normal ALS system.

A member on here has activated it on their rally car and another member on here I know has activated it to.. You need an aftermarket computer and to play around with a few things..obviously it's not a five minute job and unless you have the budget of a a racing team it's pretty unrealistic to use it on the road..you'd be going through turbos like toilet paper haha! That and a solid engine to take the abuse

Of course with aftermarket parts you can do anything, but activating the stock antilag system will not give you the results in that video. That car is actually making full boost at idle...

Oh yes I didn't mean it in a smartarse way . I don't see what's the fuss of running it on a road car or even a track car!? You'd need some serious dosh to support it, as u do with anything haha :cry:

Nah the pipes on the ST205 are perfectly fine for what they're designed to do. They are designed to supply fresh air to the exhaust housing of the turbo while the ECU simultaneously retards ignition timing and enriches fuel (during a gearchange) to provide combustion in the turbine housing and maintain turbine wheel speed.

The Subaru system is just entirely different. The turbo generates it's own boost - independent of the engine it's attached to. It's got a 5th "combustion chamber" that has a fuel and ignition system and produces the exhaust gas to spool the turbo when the system is on. It's a mindfuck but it works.
