Keen to see spec list tbh. I'd have expected to see a lot more TRD bits on a car that has been "fully decked out" by TRD and has a list of TRD bits so long it won't fit on the auction.

Looks like it's been taken care of though and appears to be in really good condition which alone makes it worth a bit but probably far less than he wants.

Theres a discussion on it on Oldschool, seems the seller is a bit of a twat, with no actual idea of what the car is. Its a nice tidy AW11, and thats about it. $5k worth on a good day

I have no idea what it would be worth. I guess like anything else on this planet, ragardless of private evaluations etc, it is only going to be worth what someone is prepared to pay.

Either way, it is gorgeous, and has clearly been treated very well.

A great collectors who someone in love with that chassis.

Looks immaculate.

That said it's still an AW11 MR2 - wouldn't imagine it would be worth heaps.

Yeah need proof of the special bits and special order etc.
With out that, no added value for that.
But is does appear to be an exceptional AW11.
So yeah 5kish. It it that colour is original and the rest is original then someone wanting to collect it may pay 7k. But only if it's 100%

Minor stuff really...lack of factory decals, just other bits that look to be have been misplaced when being resprayed.
If he werent likely after $20k, I'd be semi keen

Nah man - the decals were never put on the car - that's how you know it's special. :)

I got the impression from his listing that the car's colour is factory and it's not a respray? It still has some of the facotry labels under the rear lid.

i heard he was wanting about 20k.

seems a bit dodge with missing trim and what not, the bumper looks awfully familar to an aerotech aftermarket one, and not a trd one..

in saying that i think tidy aw11s are fetching around 15k nzd on dealer lots in japan(im sure i have links somewhere too!), but i dont think we would ever see that money in nz cos where to cheap, and the markets that much more open... 15k buys alot of car..

I don't see anything that resembles TRD except for a rear window banner and the ignition leads, not even the rad cap or the gear knob..

Or did the TRD catalogue in 1989 look no different to Toyota Genuine?

for an 86,000kms car, the odometer digits don't quite line up that well. Perhaps has been clocked before heading to NZ?

In the interests of being annoying I emailed him.

"Hi im very interested in your Mr2,could you please give me a run down on what TRD goodies it has and Il get back to you with an offer"

And the reply was

Jamie, after many many enquiry's you finally sound the sort of person who wants this car because of the parts on it and its condition and can appreciate it for what it is! Thank goodness! No one else could give a stuff about the parts so it doesn't appeal and they can't appreciate it or its value. I'm glad you emailed me as I was about to smash my head brick wall trying to deal with the amount of clowns out there who either think $0 or near offer means free or that it's stock standard. It's far from Standard but everything is factory fitted after Toyota at TRD. This is like a STI version one wrx where they striped a stock one down including the motor and filled it with good stuff. It's 22 years old so what is inside the motor and gearbox isn't known but you don't rebuild brand new engines and gearboxes for no reason so don't make and offer based on that, just count it as a bonus, also factor in repainting the bumper and eyelids $500 should be plenty to fix anything you aren't happy with as it is an old car and although really really mint it is not quite showroom new so i want you to be happy with it.

Here's the list. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards

TIm

ENGINE & GEAR BOX

ENGINE
Full in house prepped TRD engine, specs are unknown, the block/bottom end received most the attention

*TRD Lightened flywheel, heavy duty clutch, and pressure plate kit

GEAR BOX
Same story in house prepped, specs are unknown other than the obvious presence of a LSD that can be very vicious, gears give off that nice sound you would expect from race/sport ratio gears.

Others
*TRD short shifter kit (50% reduced shifter throw)
*TRD Exhaust system with twin tips
*TRD ADJ S/C Bypass valve
*TRD S/C Pulley kit
Pod filter in boot is bolt on aftermarket set up, of high quality.

The Ecu has had a recalibration of the fuel injection and parameters but it is unknown to what extent but it runs beautifully, testament to its clean running just look inside the exhaust tips!

SUPENSION & CHASSIS:

*TRD – 4 WAY ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS
1 (Hard) up to 4 (AKA the fastest way to become a dialysis patient)

*TRD UPRATED SPRINGS
(For handling not looks, you can still buy TRD lowering ones however)

*TRD FRONT SWAY BAR AND BUSH KIT
*TRD REAR SWAY BAR AND BUSH KIT
(These kits also have special linkages that mount them to the shocks bodies)

*TRD HARDENED RUBBER BUSHING KIT THROUGHOUT
(30% Stiffer than stock bushes, suitable for fast road use and won’t crack the chassis like other materials used in non TRD aftermarket kits)

*TRD ENGINE AND GEARBOX MOUNTS
(Again around 30% stiffer and far stronger)

Steering rack unconfirmed, may be quick rack, need to compare next to another but is far more positive than previous Aw11s I had.

BODY

*TRD purple smoked rear window monsoon with TRD decals and matching red graphics to match body colour

*The Front lip is either a TRD 1 off or limited production run or another Japanese company it cannot be confirmed whose. The front lip was changed in Japan. The reason for this was the car was lifting too much at high speeds so this was made/used to try fix it.

TRD parts worn out or removed for compliance

*TRD braided brake lines (still avail from TRD)
*TRD brake pads (stock pads now sit in the car) (still avail from TRD)
*TRD air filter (still avail from TRD) (box has a K&N now but currently Pod filter kit is fitted for that in cabin S/C sound… amazing!!)

Wheels

The car is also fitted with Nearly new 15x8 +25 OG Work replica wheels with 195/45R15 tires all done less than 1000kms that finish the look of nicely and keep everything period style.

Doubt its some TRD factory special, probably just someone decked it out with some shiny bits when it was new. As for condition, photos look good but where's the side trims etc. and decals? As others said, I'd be looking in the 5-7k range realisticly. K's seem suspiciously low for a car that looks like it's had a respray, I'd probably put a 1 in front of the quoted milage. And if it was some rare TRD model you'd surely expect it to have had some better wheels in which case you probably wouldn't dump them for those dime a dozen wheels.
