Pardon my ignorance - how is this a good thing? Wouldn't it stress the frame, gearbox, cause vibration etc?

More direct transfer of torque to wheels (less torque absorbed by rubber mounts twisting). But yes it causes vibration.

Hmm... my completely factory GTT must finally be going up in value.

I have all the scheduled Toyota servicing manuals & reciepts from the original japanese owner - that must be worth $5k alone.

I've always wanted to own one of these... it was the first Japanese car I was ever aware of in the UK, and I just loved the wedge shape.

Now, between Rusty rust rust rust, and the huge 8O prices owners want for tidy ones, I don't think I will! No way am I paying five figure sums for one, when that can get me faster, newer and better handling cars... anyone know any old ladies with one of these in their garage?

And anyone see the Wheeler Dealers episode where they bodged the repair on one of these?

As far as bang for buck goes, hard to beat an AW11. Then again it does depend on what you consider "Bang"

lol the first car I drove in NZ was an AE82 FXGT - auto, and knackered.

I loved it, it stuck to the road like it was on rails, was comfy (enough) and generally didn't have any problems overtaking. I'd drive one again in a heartbeat (if I had $$ at the moment, which I don't), but then there's always the ol' MR2 calling to me...

But then, I consider a Curren a good car, so what do I know?

Kinda is... but from side on it looks a little out of proportion.
There is an MR2 getting round Christchurch with an Enzo Ferrari kit on it. Looks terrible...
