Rebuilding 4AGE Smallport - Best place in Auckland?

Postby FYADUP » Mon May 30, 2011 12:04 am

Hey guys - My smallport has done over 300k now - uses & drops oil like a sieve (lots of little leaks)

If I were to get her rebuilt, where would you guys suggest? Auckland region.

I am looking for a place that does a solid job but not with a massive bill at the end of it.

Also, my gearbox needs attention - rebuild or good second hand one?

Any suggestions welcome!

Cheers,

Jason

Gary at the Cylinder Head Shop in glenfield did a awesome job on my 5efte engine rebuild and was reasonably priced too. Have also referred another friend to him for a rebuild and she walked away smiling as well.

One more thing to add - i like these sportmaxx wheels - what offset etc should I be lookin at for my car? I like the bit of dish too as opposed to a flat profile.

take the engine out yourself and take all the shit off like alt, powersteering, manifolds etc.

you want the builder to be stripping and building the motor not pissing about taking off alternators etc.

is it a recon or a rebuild/modified that may change who you go to.

and those sportmaxx come in a 15x7 +25 which is more FWD, but i saw in NZPC a civix running 8s or 9s in a +6 offset so i guess anythings possible

D1 - In terms of recond/ rebuild were you referring to my gearbox? Or engine?

Its an old as shit engine thats leaking everywhere - so I presumably thought rebuild - but what is the difference between that and a recon?

replace old worn parts with new standard spec parts is what i would call a recon

rebuild would be replace with aftermarket pistons, cams etc

well in me head anyway 8)
